Where can I grow cannabis plants for personal use?

  • Personal use cannabis plants grown outside cannot be located within a front yard setback or side yard setback and cannot be visible from a public road.

    • Outdoor cannabis cultivation is prohibited on parcels with multi-family units and in medium and high density residential zones (R2 and R3).

    • Utilizing our GIS Zoning Maps and Parcel Search can help you determine your parcel zoning and setback requirements.

  • Personal use cannabis plants can be grown inside any legally constructed and fully enclosed non-residential accessory structure, like a garage, shed, barn, or greenhouse.

    • Cultivation within a structure approved for residential use is prohibited, unless there is no other feasible alternative location.

    • Structures must confine light to the interior of the structure.

    • Structures must have locking doors or gates to prevent free access.

    • Structures must be equipped with odor control filtration and ventilation systems adequate to prevent odor, humidity, or mold.

    • The use of generators is prohibited, except as emergency back-up systems.
