As a property owner, how do I know what’s required for vegetation management on my property?

Answer

The County Fire Prevention Division provides inspection guidance and brochures outlining requirements under Sonoma County Code Chapter 13A.

In general, property owners must remove weeds, tall grass, brush, and tree limbs that pose fire hazards within 100 feet of structures and 10 feet of roads or driveways. Keep roofs, gutters, and yards free of leaves and debris.

You’ll receive a Vegetation Management Inspection Report after inspection with results and recommendations. Review the County’s Hazardous Vegetation Management Requirements for full details.
