How is the BCDC shoreline band determined?

Answer from experts:

First, mark a line that marks the Bay shoreline along the Bay- which is considered Mean High Water in areas without tidal marsh and the edge of marsh vegetation up to 5 feet above Mean Sea Level (MSL) in areas with tidal marsh. Where marsh vegetation is present, it is helpful to map three lines to compare relative locations: the edge of marsh vegetation, MSL, and MSL + 5 feet. The shoreline will be a continuous line that may shift between the edge of marsh vegetation and MSL + 5 feet, whichever is closest to the Bay at a given point.
