Who owns the utility pole located on my property?

Utility poles may have several utilities on any given pole, including electric, telephone, and cable providers. Most wooden utility poles are maintained and controlled by members of the Northern California Joint Pole Association. The Northern California Joint Pole Association is comprised of various Municipalities, Irrigation Districts, DAS Providers, and electric utilities, telephone, and wireless companies. Each member has or desires to hold joint equity in utility poles in and around Northern California. Members of the Association make a voluntary joint undertaking to share expenses regarding ownership, maintenance, use, setting, replacement, dismantling, relinquishment, or removal of jointly owned poles.

The Northern California Joint Pole Association can be reached at info@ncjpa.com or (925) 681-0378.
