A Certificate of Appropriateness is required prior to development, exterior alteration, restoration, rehabilitation, or relocation of any structure in a Historic District or subject to a Landmark Designation. Structures that are 50 years or older require historical resource review for any alteration, restoration, or rehabilitation for a structure that is not a replacement in kind or ordinary maintenance as determined by the Zoning Administrator, in addition to plans to relocate, or demolish a structure 50 years or older. If a structure is found to be historically significant in historical resource review, then a Certificate of Appropriateness is required for any aforementioned actions to determine if the changes are appropriate for the maintenance of the structure's historical significance. The Historic Preservation Commission will determine whether to reject, approve, or conditionally approve certificates of appropriateness for construction projects at a public hearing.
