What documents are required for an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) application?

Required documents to build an accessory dwelling unit typically include:

  • Completed application

  • Site plan and floor plan

  • Elevations

  • Title 24 energy forms

  • Architectural plans

  • Structural and grading plans (if applicable)

  • Existing and proposed utility connections

  • Topographical/boundary survey (required only if grading or precise setbacks are in question. If not included at intake, most departments allow submission upon plan check corrections)
